Wine Country

This past weekend we visited Napa and St. Helena, indulging in fine foods, wine, and lounging garden side with wonderful friends. Autumn is a great time to visit Napa. You can bask in the sun of our Indian summer while enjoying the vibrant hues of Fall. It was a clear Autumn day as the leaves descended to the ground and dried just enough to crunch beneath your feet. The serene setting, excellent company and delicious warm sunshine were just the recipe for a relaxing day out.

The grapes were beckoning to be plucked off the vine,

The skies always seem to be blue when we visit Napa. On this particular day, we stopped at the Silver Oaks Winery.

We also visited the Beringer estate for wine tasting, where you can sit out on the patio to enjoy your wine.

Little Drops of Happy's Instagram Photo Featured on SFGate's Blog

Aww, shucks.  Little Drops of Happy's Instagram photo was selected to be included in a gallery of 27 photos out of the 5,500, for the SFGate Blog's #howSFseesSF Instagram Project. The concept is for San Francisco Bay Area locals to capture how they see San Francisco, away from the typical tourist perspective. It's not a huge hoopla, but I'm still honored to get some love. Pressing "Pause"

We made it in the nick of time to catch the sunset at a little park in route back to the city. We laid out our picnic blanket, relaxed, and nibbled on fresh figs and pears from the pumpkin patch fruit stand.

I relish the times when you can spontaneously pull over, press "pause," and savor the happy moments. We can easily get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, with a laundry list of to dos, errands and commitments. Although it was a brief stop, a half an hour can do wonders for the soul! I hope you can take the time to treat yourself to a mini "pause" moment and recharge before you're go, go, go again!

Here's another one from the pumpkin patch

Hello, Autumn

Autumn is here, but in the San Francisco Bay Area, the weather is always a confusing thing. Mixed in with the remnants of our Indian Summer, the chill in the air is ever present when the sun dips below the horizon. Sandwiched in between bright, warm days have been cold, brisk ones.  Despite the moody weather, Autumn cannot be denied and the changing colors of the season is a reminder of that. Deep earthy hues have spurted and most noticeably, the warm orange color of pumpkins. Doesn't the sight of pumpkins awaken the desire to get cozy? I'm looking forward to pulling out my Autumn attire and nuzzling up into scarves and comfy sweaters. Cozy up!

Renegade Craft Fair - Fort Mason, San Francisco

It's always with great anticipation when the Renegade Craft Fair makes a stop in San Francisco. Their summer edition at Fort Mason is particularly exciting when the city is lucky enough to gather a large talent pool of creative minds to share their craft. The artists not only offer enticing handmade goods, but also exhibit displays that are masterpieces on their own. I should have taken more photos of the display, but I was wildly distracted by the creative work from one booth to the next. Here are a few of my purchases.

The Toyota station gave away free tote bags that were inked on the spot with two color choice.

A stop at the bustling Oh Hello Friend booth is always a treat. Danni has the cutest booth and her shop is peppered with sweet finds!

Tennessee Valley Trail - Marin

A recent hankering to hike led us to explore the Marin Headlands. What we discovered was a hidden gem of the Bay Area, Tennessee Valley! Only twenty minutes from San Francisco, this trail is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and like most spots in Marin, fog blows through, adding a beautiful element to the landscape. With mostly level and wide trails, this 3.1 mile loop is family friendly and suited for all skill levels. With wild flowers abound, grassy hills and a black sand beach awaiting at the end, this hike is a must in Marin. Exploration is the key to discovery and I hope this inspires to go on your next adventure. Take advantage of the long summer days and explore!

Pretty mellow yellow flowers were sprinkled throughout the trail.

There are only portable bathrooms at the limited parking site so I would suggest stopping for a bathroom break prior to your trek if you are not accustomed to non flush toilets.

Do you have a hidden gem in your neighborhood? I would love to hear about it!
